Gerald's Jive - Seventh Edition

Things have been busy in my house and at my work. Last time I wrote of my excitement to have a new person at work to give me scratches and cuddles…well now there are two of them! You know about Kristine, but now Tara has started to work with Mummy and Daddy also and I must say, her speciality is scratching necks. I love joining the gang for morning tea – I am always sure to get some love.

But if you think that is exciting just wait until I tell you what is happening on the home front. You may have heard the news – Yep, I have a little brother. He is so great. At first it was a little confusing, I mean, Mum was away for 4 days and then comes home with a great big squeaky toy. What is a schnauzer to think? Exactly…that the squeaky toy is for me from Mum to say, "I've missed you". Nope. Apparently this one isn't for throwing around and chewing.

He makes lots of different noises and he is pretty clever because even when he is in his bed I can hear him. Not just from the bedroom but also from this little thing that sits on the bench. At first I would sit under the bench and listen, watch and wait for it to move and squirm…isn't it a little little brother? No, it turns out he has this thing so you can hear his noises in 'stereo'. Man, I have to get one of those for out in the yard. Imagine the magpies if they heard my bark not just from my mouth but also from a little thing that sat on the fence where they always sit and taunt me. They wouldn't be so smug then!

The best part of all though, is what Mummy and Daddy call him. Gilbert. Gilbert! Isn't that great? He starts with a "G" like me.

So I've had to learn something new since Gilbert came home. I've learnt that not all toys have to be 'rough-housed'; some toys are just as fun to sit and watch. Gilbert makes such funny noises and kicks his legs and arms around, it is fun trying to guess which part of him will move next. Which reminds me, it's almost Gilbert's playtime. I must dash and get myself positioned in my bed next to Gilbert's play gym.

Until next time,

Gerald
