How did your owner decide they wanted a small friend and that you would be the right small friend for them?
My owner (whom I call my butler) had no choice in the matter. As soon as he arrived at my hotel I sat in his lap and wouldn’t get off. While I was there I turned my irresistible charms and good looks on him and that was that.

Where did your owner find you?
Well he visited the hotel I was staying at (a rescue home). It was about time he arrived too. I was not happy to be mixing with the ordinary animals and some awful cats too!

How did your owner choose your name?
Well I’m a mix of Papillon and Cavalier King Charles. The Papillon was bred by the French Royal Family. So I am a royal through and through. I am also very pretty and stylish. So my butler, who thinks he’s really smart, thought the name “Chic” was suitable, being a French word for stylish and also one of those awful Australian slang words for a lady. He’s really not very smart.

What do you enjoy doing?
I like to parade around the lake turning my nose up at the ordinary dogs or barking at them to chase them away. I like to make my butler massage me. If he isn’t paying attention I climb onto his lap, put my front paws on his chest and stare into his eyes, this way he can’t refuse. I also like to visit places in the car, that way I get to see lot’s of different places. I don’t like it when we go to the dog park though – because then I have to mix with the ordinary dogs again.

Do you have a favourite treat, spot or toy?
Well being royal I don’t play with toys. I may occasionally resort to shaking things about and chewing them but they’re not toys. I also have a nose that picks up scents everywhere that I can’t resist. So I like to sniff everything and try and eat everything off the ground that I can. My butler doesn’t like this though so we have constant battles over it. Maybe I should find a new butler that isn’t so insolent?

What do you think makes you so special to your owner?
Well really, what is there about me he couldn’t like? I’m so cute that it gets me into trouble; I’m charming, stylish and very very pretty. Oh and intelligent, very loyal and loving. I also don’t make him work too hard, being a quiet natured lady.

Are there any funny or interesting stories about you that you can share with us?
My original butler rudely abandoned me at a school. Some people came and picked me up and took me to their hotel and then my current butler came and got me. My life is comfortable and quiet now. I bring a lot of joy to people who can’t help but smile and talk to me when I’m parading around the lake.

The only funny habit I have is that when storms are about I like to jump on my butlers’ bed and then lie on his face. I keep trying to do this until the storm has passed. If he closes his bedroom door I just keep scratching and barking at it until he opens it.  After all I don’t want him to get scared by the storm.

Apart from that I try to maintain a royal composure at all times.

My mum just loves cats and she couldn’t resist my charm and good looks.

Where did your owner find you?
I used to live next door and would pop into my mum’s house every day. My mum adopted me after my previous owners moved away.

How did your owner choose your name?
My name came with the adoption.

What do you enjoy doing?
Sleeping, frolicking in the garden and harassing my sister Buffy.

Do you have a favourite treat, spot or toy?
My favourite treat is food, food and more food and I love sleeping on any chair I’m not allowed to!

What do you think makes you so special to your owner?
I’m very affectionate and I just love being with my mum, especially when she’s on the computer. She’s very adept at typing one handed!
